Intro to Letterpress: The Imaginary Concert Poster Wednesdays in August 6/8, 13/8, 20/8, 27/7, 6-9pm

During this month long, Thursday evening class. (4 days, 2-3 hr evening classes) you will learn the basics of Letterpress printmaking using traditional inks, and hand cut images, and historic wood & metal type!

Learn the basics of traditional Letterpress relief printmaking while making an imaginary music concert poster!, from designing the image, Composing the type , inking, printing and cleanup, you’ll learn the entire process, on a electric vandercook or proof press!

You will receive hands on education as the instructor Thayer Bray will take you step by step through the composition, inking and printing process.

At the end of the class you will have an edition of hand-pulled prints you made yourself!

Evening 1 : Basic type handling, Composing your poster

Evening 2 : continuing to compose, hand cutting images.

Evening 3 : Printing on the Vandercook demonstration, active printing

Evening 4 : critique, curating the edition, feedback celebrate!

This class will also count as a press signoff class, meaning you will be permitted to use the press unsupervised/ with reduced supervision in future!

This Workshop is $120+$25 lab fee. Lab fees pay for tools and materials: new type high linoleum, Ink, paper, etc.

* This is an beginner class.

*This class requires low to moderate hand strength and a dexterity.

*You may be exposed to natural and petroleum solvents in this class. Safety procedures will be followed.

*Children 12-16 must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian. children 12-16 tickets are half price with full price adult admission.

*Passes MUST be purchased prior to the start of class.

*there is a 3 person minimum for this class. If the minimum is not met the class will be canceled and refunded.
